I grew up down a holler in Eastern Kentucky where meals were simple, gardens were big, and the kitchen was the heart of the home. We learned how to make do with what we had, cook from scratch, and turn humble ingredients into meals that filled both the belly and the soul.

Inside this book you’ll find the kind of food many of us were raised on — cast iron cornbread, pinto beans, fried apple pies, vegetable soup for canning, cornmeal mush, skillet suppers, and plenty of old-fashioned country cooking that kept families going through hard times.

But this book is more than recipes. It’s about keeping old ways alive, sharing kitchen wisdom, and passing something down to the next generation.
